The Devon Kin Keeper – A Genealogist’s Romantic Inheritance – Carole McCulloch

Devon Family History Society proudly presents:

“A Genealogist’s Romantic Inheritance: The Story of William Adrian Allery”

Join us for an engaging presentation that uncovers the remarkable tale of William Adrian Allery, a determined Devon man who shocked 1920s England with his audacious claim to the 60-million-pound Angell Estate in London.

This fascinating journey explores how family legends, parish records, and newspaper accounts combined to create one of Devon’s most intriguing genealogical mysteries. You’ll discover:

  • How William seized houses and collected rents from an estate he claimed was rightfully his
  • The controversial parish register entries that formed the backbone of his claim
  • The family dynamics and historical context behind this extraordinary story

Our presenter will share practical insights on:

  • Researching contentious ancestors and family legends
  • Navigating conflicting evidence in genealogical research
  • Transforming family history research into engaging narratives
  • Preserving and organizing family history materials

Whether you’re a seasoned family historian or just beginning your genealogical journey, this presentation offers valuable lessons on persistence, critical evaluation, and the delicate balance between family lore and historical fact.

Bring your questions for a lively discussion on inheritance claims, family history mysteries, and genealogical detective work!

Carole is a pioneering genealogist, educator, and family history innovator who bridges traditional research methods with cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies. After earning her Diploma in Family History from the University of Tasmania in 2019, she dedicated her retirement years to genealogical research and storytelling.

As the founder of Essential Genealogy 2.0 Academy, which has welcomed over 600 students in the past four years, Carole develops comprehensive courses that empower family historians to embrace technological advances. Her innovative approach combines classical genealogical methodologies with advanced AI applications, helping researchers break through traditional barriers in ancestral discovery and documentation.

A passionate advocate for preserving family legacies, Carole regularly shares her expertise through webinars, blogs, podcasts, and international presentations. Her AI-enhanced methodology has enabled her to transcribe countless historical documents and create engaging ancestral narratives that resonate across generations. By integrating AI-assisted tools, she has transformed complex genealogical patterns into compelling family stories that bring ancestral histories to life.

“As a family storykeeper,” Carole notes, “I believe in the power of combining traditional research with innovative technologies to uncover and preserve our ancestors’ legacies. What I like best is the discovery! The moment when you find that previously hidden gem that provides proof of an ancestor’s life and activities in their era. I also love to weave the stories of my ancestors in ways that take the reader deeper into their lives and paint a vivid picture of how they have influenced me.”

Currently, Carole leads workshops and courses on AI-enhanced genealogy research methods, helping fellow historians embrace the future of family history research while maintaining storytelling authenticity. Her next comprehensive course, ‘Beyond the Pen’, launching in May 2025, will further explore the integration of AI technologies in crafting meaningful family narratives.

Carole shares her family history archive at WeAre.xyz.
